New Delhi (09.03.2022): Delhi Chief Minister Arwind Kejriwal is extremely angry with the announcement of Delhi Election Commission to defer the MCD poll date for one week. Delhi’s Election Commissioner S K Srivastav convened a press conference on Wednesday and said that he had a communication from Centre through LG, that there is deliberation on unification of three MCDs of Delhi. Therefore, the election dates should not be announced. Election Commissioner said that he may announce the MCD election dates after one week.
Soon after this announcement, angry Kejriwal took to Twitter to ventilate his anger. “Can central government direct any EC to delay/ cancel any election? Under which provision? Are these ‘directions’ binding on EC? Why is EC buckling under pressure?’
Kejriwal said that the BJP has run away after sensing a drastic defeat in MCD elections. It has manipulated the Election Commission into deferring the MCD polls. People of Delhi will seek revenge for this brutal murder of democracy. AAP’s Jhadu will sweep the MCD clean with 260 seats and kick the BJP out. Somehow, Kejriwal’s anger was palpable as his party expects to sweep the MCD poll in Delhi.
