Chemicals and petrochemicals industries are the biggest contributors as far as export is concerned that to in the time when the country is affected by COVID-19 pandemic besides meeting the domestic needs. So much so that Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers D V Sadananda Gowda has congratulated the industry on becoming the top exporting sector of the country for the first time ever.

Sadananda Gowda has informed that between April 2019 and January 2020, the export of chemicals grew by 7.43 percent over the corresponding period of the previous year. The total export of chemicals during this period reached to the tune of Rs 2.68 lakh crore that constitutes 14.35 percent of the total exports by India.

He assured the industry of full support towards making India a leading global hub for manufacturing chemicals and petrochemicals. He said that continuous efforts made by the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals have enabled the industry to become the topmost exporting segment.
