The Govt of India is considering three IFS officers for appointment to the post of Inspector General, Forest (IG, Forest) in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC).

Reportedly, the panel for the post comprises of Rohit Tiwari (IFS:1993:WB), Brajendra Swaroop (IFS:1993:SK), and Dr Sunish Bakshi (IFS:1998:UT); all three working as DIG, MoEF&CC at present.

But some unusual development appears to have put the appointment on hold.

It is further learned that the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has raised objection on the tenure of the first two names on the panel for having less than one year term as residual service.

In case ACC denies considering Tiwari and Swaroop it may consider Dr Sunish Bakshi for the post. Some insiders say that one can not deny the possibility that a fresh panel may be asked for.
