New Delhi (18.12.2024): Ever since search-cum-selection-committee (SCSC) conducted interviews for the post of CMD in HPCL, the name of Amit Garg, Director, Marketing in HPCL, was rumoured to have been picked up for the coveted position. But the game is not yet over. Indianmandarins has learnt that the final outcome may swing a surprise.
Sources say that the vigilance report for approximately seven candidates has been sought before the panel is sent to ACC for appointment of the successor of Pushp Kumar Joshi who retired as CMD on August 01, 2024. Currently, Rajneesh Narang, Director (Finance), is holding the additional charge of CMD post.
Candidates who appeared before the search committee include Arvind Kumar, Director (Refinery) IOCL; Rajneesh Narang, Director (Finance), HPCL; Amit Garg, Director (Marketing) HPCL; Bharatan, ED, HPCL; K K Chatiwal, MD, IGL; Sukhmal Jain, ED, BPCL.
It may be underlined that PESB made an attempt in June this year to find a suitable candidate for the post of CMD but it didn’t find a suitable candidate. Interestingly, Garg was not shortlisted for PESB’s selection interview then.
A section of insiders believes that rumour may cast a shadow on Garg’s prospect while the other section of insiders says that Garg’s name was strategically leaked to mar his prospect. This also gave people enough room for kite flying. But these views appear more of conjectures than credible information.
