The Haryana government has decided to seek extension and a communication recommending extension in service will be sent to the Centre shortly. Rastogi was appointed as CS in February this year when Vivek Joshi (IAS: 1989: HY) the then CS was appointed as Election Commissioner by the Centre. The Nayab Singh Saini government appointed Rastogi as his successor.

Sources said that the issue of Rastogi’s extension in service was discussed at the concerned levels and it was decided to grant him extension in service.
