New Delhi (25.12.2021):Harbhajan Singh announced his retirement from cricket on Friday, giving rise to speculation that he will join the Congress party in Punjab very soon. Barely a week ago, Harbhajan was seen along with Punjab state Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu, and thus, his political preference is already known to the people in the state. Congress gives preference to film personalities and sportspersons during the polls and Harbhajan is a renowned personality in cricket.
"All good things come to an end and today as I bid adieu to the game that has given me everything in life, I would like to thank everyone who made this 23-year-long journey beautiful and memorable. My heartfelt thank you. Grateful." In a tweet, Bhajji declared he was quitting cricket.
He was a part of the Indian team that won the 2007 World T20, the 2011 ODI World Cup as well as the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Having not featured for India over the last five years, it was time for Bhajji to say goodbye to cricket.
