New Delhi (12.12.2024): A special CBI court acquitted six accused including former Coal Secretary H C Gupta and two other public servants in an alleged Coal Scam case. Former joint secretary in coal ministry K S Kropha and former director in coal allocation section of the ministry K C Samaria were also acquitted in this case. The judge held that the CBI failed to prove beyond any reasonable doubt that any misrepresentation was made by the accused. No case of cheating was made out as no one was induced. However, a Delhi court on July 13, 2023 convicted Gupta and five others in a case involving irregularities in the allocation of a coal block in Chhattisgarh.
