fmr-raj-dgp-appointed-chief-of-bccis-acuFormer Rajasthan cadre IPS officer Ajit Singh who had retired as DGP of the state in November 2017 has been appointed as the head of BCCI's Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU), replacing former Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar. The latter, though, has been retained in the advisory role in the ACU till May 31, 2018. Singh will take charge of the office ahead of IPL and will be based out of BCCI headquarters at Cricket Centre, Mumbai. However, Singh's appointment hasn't been smooth. It is learnt that even after the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA), headed by Vinod Rai, cleared Singh's appointment, BCCI's acting secretary Amitabh Chaudhary refused to sign the contract letter. It is learnt that CoA waited for Chaudhary to sign Singh's appointment letter but he refused. So Chaudhary was bypassed. "Having served the Indian Police Service for around 36 years, Singh comes with a wealth of experience in anti-corruption operations, investigative work and field policing. Singh also headed the anti-corruption bureau of Rajasthan for four years," a BCCI release said. The BCCI has also engaged the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit like previous years for the upcoming season of IPL. "Both BCCI and ICC will closely work towards keeping the highest level of compliance for the Indian Premier League," stated the release.
