If some reliable sources are to be believed going against the advice of its broadcast engineering cadre service officers caused huge embarrassment (in the month of July) to 'Prasar Bharti' bosses who wanted to push their ambitious multi-crore technology upgradations plan through the PMO. Engineers had objected to the plan on the ground of its viability. Even I&B ministry officials recognized the validity of the objections raised by broadcast engineers against the plan. But Prasar Bharti officials succeeded in taking their proposal to the PMO, which, after patiently going through the merit and demerit of the plan, rejected the idea on the ground of its techno-economic unviability.
