Close to the completion of term of Chief Justice of India Justice Deepak Misra and other senior judges the power corridors have started anticipating the seniority order in SC by the end of this year. The first among the senior SC judges completing term this year is Justice J Chelameshwar who is next to the Chief Justice of India on seniority list. Justice Chelameshwar is retiring today (June 22, 2018) whereas Justice Adarsh Kumar Goyal will be retiring on 06 July. CJI Justice Dipak Misra will demit office on 02 October, Justice Kurian Joseph will be retiring November this year and Justice Madan B Lokur will demit office December 30, 2018. Though the Govt has made its intent clear that it sticks to the convention thus it is open to accept Justice Gogoi as next Chief Justice of India.
