Varanasi (12.12.2022): A month-long Kashi Tamil Sangamam is underway in Varanasi in which various ministers including Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated. The effort, as per political observers, has certain political overture as BJP has its southern India political voyage that includes Tamil Nadu. But in the meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin inaugurated the renovated house in Varanasi, where late freedom fighter and national poet Subramania Bharathi lived, virtually from Tamil Nadu.

The BJP is aggressive in Tamil Nadu under its state chief K Annamalai but DMK, the ruling party, is equally active not only in the state but elsewhere as well as far as messaging is concerned.

The national poet was remembered in Tamil Nadu on the occasion of his birth anniversary, with state Governor RN Ravi paying tributes to Bharathi. The Tamil Nadu CM announced last year to renovate the house where poet and freedom fighter Bharathi had lived. A bust of Bharathi has also been installed.
