The fatal Swine Flu has been frightening people across boundaries. States like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi, Maharashtra and Telangana continue to witness a rise in number of swine flu cases and the figure of those infected with H1N1 virus stands at 11955 till February 19.
Civilians can not manage easily to keep themselves away from the crowd, relatively more prone to such viral infections. Civil servants, especially deployed with the field formations, too can not keep themselves away from the public and public dealings. Bureaucrats, though few in numbers, have also fallen prey to contagious swine flu. The District Magistrate (DM) of Shahjahanpur, Shubhra Saxena (IAS:2008:UP), who had been away in the state capital for a week to attend 'IAS Week' has been diagnosed with swine flu, whereas Ghaziabad District Magistrate Vimal Kumar Sharma has also tested positive for swine flu. He is recuperating in a private hospital in Vaishali area of the city. Kapil Singh, City Magistrate, Ghaziabad suspects that Sharma might have contracted the disease between February 11 and 14, when "he had attended an IAS officers' meeting in Lucknow as he had been unwell since his return on Feb 14″.
As per the latest reports as many as 09 IPS trainees have also been diagnosed with Swine Flu infection.
Two days back Sunil Gupta (IPS:2007:J&K), deployed at Zonal PHQ in Jammu, unfortunately failed to survive the infection and lost his life.
