New Delhi (11.07.2025): A former bureaucrat G Asok Kumar (Retd IAS: 1991: TG), who is known for innovations in water conservation and other such initiatives is governance and administration, has joined the Board of Kannur International Airport as Independent Director. He retired last year as Mission Director, National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG). He brings with him the treasure of experience in administration including Civil Aviation sector.

Considered to be the pioneer of one of the most captivating campaigns in Govt of India “Catch the rain” which was launched on World Water Day (March 22) by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi under the Centre’s flagship Jal Shakti Abhiyan.

It may be underlined that a village was named as Asok Nagar in Kadapa district in the constituency of the then undivided Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy in 2006 after him. The CM himself named the village after the then Collector G Asok Kumar, who had helped in quick development of Kadapa district.
