New Delhi (24.03.2021): The NDA administration is beginning to wake up its glute muscles to participate in the global technological marathon.

So, the Sangh's own, Piyush Goyal 'Happy' is entrusted with the most aspiring project of the NDA administration: to speed up the growth of the knowledge-intensive high-tech industry. For this, a 10-member committee has already been constituted, while its terms of reference are still in the final stages of drafting.

To be headed by the Union Commerce and Industry Minister, the composition of the committee sets a new precedent. It is packed with domain experts from the private sector, while the official representation is kept to the minimum. This is in tune with the emergent government policy to go for a national mobilization to resolve national problems instead of frittering away and waste national talents on ideological considerations.

Since the committee's recommendations are expected to be far-reaching in consequences, the Cabinet Secretary is given a berth to ensure the vetting and approval of the recommendations before they are submitted for cabinet approval. In his job, the Cabinet Secretary will be assisted by Deputy National Security Advisor Rajinder Khanna, the DPIIT Secretary, and an MEA Additional Secretary

Basically, the policy guidelines will be prepared by industry-leading lights like TATA Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran, Bharat Forge Ltd Chairman Baba Kalyani, Managing Director & CEO of Mahindra Group Pawan Goenka, Zoho Corporation CEO Sridhar Vembu, and Semiconductor Domain Expert Anshuman Tripathi.

Undoubtedly, these eminent industry representatives will be consulting, in turn, their own sets of domain experts to ensure their recommendations reflect the true requirements of entrepreneurs for sustaining and developing existing and future enterprises.

This empowered committee will invite as and when required the Secretaries of Department of Revenue, Department of Expenditure, Department of Economic Affairs, and Sponsoring Ministry/Department for in-depth and process consultations to ensure that all the arms of the government hold one another to make the country a vibrant hub for high-tech manufacturing of products as well as for the manufacturing of the inputs that are/will be required to sustain growth and development in the frontier areas of technology.
