New Delhi (08.02.2024): A Delhi Court sought an action taken report (ATR) from the Delhi Police on Sameer Wankhede’s, an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, complaint seeking lodging First Information Report (FIR) against Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB)Deputy Director General Gyaneshwar Singh (IPS: 1999: HP).
The court issued notice to Deputy Commissioner of Police, South West District for filing of the action taken report in respect of Wankhede’s complaint dating back to July 2023. Wankhede accused Singh of harassment and atrocities punishable under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 during the enquiry related to the Cordelia drugs bust case.
Singh had allegedly humiliated Wankhede and threatened him that he will ensure that the IRS officer loses his job. In the application before the Patiala House Court, Wankhede said that the complaint was originally lodged with the Mumbai Police which later informed him that his complaint was transferred to Delhi Police for further action.
Wankhede also alleged that despite emails to Delhi Police for further action, no FIR was registered and thus he was compelled to approach the Court. Considering the submission, the Court issued notice to the Delhi Police and listed the case for further consideration on February 27, 2024.
