Groups formed using the phone number of the IAS officer have names such as ‘Mallu Hindu officers’ and ‘Mallu Muslim officers’. The officer, in his complaint, claimed that he learnt about these groups only after a friend alerted him.

Multiple groups were created from his contact information without his knowledge. There is speculation that the officer’s mobile phone was hacked and the two WhatsApp groups were created after that. Other officers from his contact list were also added to the groups without his knowledge.
