New Delhi (03.05.2026): In a move aimed at maintaining administrative stability at the highest level of governance, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Saturday approved tenure extensions for three senior officials serving in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Leading the list is Ashish Vachhani (IAS: 1997: TN), currently serving as Additional Secretary in the PMO. His tenure under central deputation was extended for a period of two years, effective beyond May 23, 2026. With this extension, Vachhani, known for his role in inter-ministerial coordination and policy execution, is set to continue in the Prime Minister’s core team until May 23, 2028.

In addition, two Director-level officers also saw their tenures extended. The government’s decision to retain these officers underscores a preference for institutional memory and continuity within the PMO’s operational framework. The officers granted extensions include Parthiban P (IAS: 2011: AGMUT) and Amrit Agrahari (IRS IT: 2011). Parthiban’s tenure was extended by one year beyond June 25, 2026 while Agrahari’s tenure was extended for a period of one-year beyond July 9, 2026.
