After
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley from his hospital bed in the US targeted the CBI
for having gone after all previous and current top honchos of ICICI bank, he
has been joined in by his lawyer 'brother in arms' and former FM P Chidambaram
in what investigative officials have termed as the 'disdainful display of
ministerial adventurism and absolutism'. On
Sunday, PC attacked the CBI for “indiscriminately targeting†some of the
bankers, and pointed out that the agency received the “ultimate certificateâ€
from Union Minister Arun Jaitley, who termed it “investigative adventurismâ€. This
has added further grist to the capital's rumor mills that the two lawyers, AJ
and PC, have always been hand in glove in protecting their 'common clients'. In a
series of tweets, the Congress leader said he was glad that Jaitley’s
conscience and legal acumen finally stirred him to condemn the “indiscriminate
targeting of eminent bankers†in cases involving thousands of crores. “The
CBI has received the ultimate certificate from the one who has the best
ringside seat, the Finance Minister (on leave): ‘Adventurism and megalomania
have overtaken investigators!’â€
Chidambaram tweeted. Criticizing
the CBI for its action in the case against former ICICI CEO Chanda Kochhar,
Jaitley had written a Facebook post where he criticized the CBI and said,
“There is a fundamental difference between investigative adventurism and
professional investigation.â€
