The ongoing controversies appear to have finished the career and reputation of many bright senior IPS officers serving in RAW and CBI. If some well placed sources are to be believed, CBI Director Alok Verma is likely to move suspension against Special Director Rakesh Asthana (IPS:1984:GJ). Reports say that Verma has already called for Asthana's suspension. CBI Chief’s meeting with PM on Monday and further searches in its own headquarter and subsequent arrest of Deputy SP Devender Kumar indicates that few more stern moves may be taken soon.

Further, Samant Kumar Goyal (IPS:1984:PB) too, second-in-command in RAW, appears to have shattered his own dream of becoming Punjab DGP. There are rumours that Goyal had assurance from Punjab CM for the coveted post after the extended tenure of the outgoing DGP Suresh Arora (IPS:1982:PB) comes to an end coming December. CBI has named Samant Kumar Goel in the FIR accusing Goyal of facilitating the deal between Asthana and Qureshi. It is said that Samanta also hatched conspiracy to implicate CBI Chief in bribery.

Further, sons of former RAW officer are said to have played role as middleman in organising bribery. Manoj Prasad, a Dubai-based investment banker, and his brother Somesh Prasad are the sons of a former officer of the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW). The FIR was filed on October 15 and Manoj Prasad was arrested the following day. Somesh Prasad has also been charged by the CBI.
