New Delhi (03.07.2025): The Government of India appointed Avinash Purushottam Das Joshi (IAS: 1994: AM) as Secretary in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI). He is working in the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) as Additional Secretary and he is scheduled to take charge of the new responsibility today as Secretary in Govt of India.
Currently, Sanjeev Chopra (IAS:1990:OR), Secretary, Department of Food & Public Distribution, holds the additional charge of Secretary, MoFPI.
The Secretary post in the ministry was vacant since 01 June 2025 following the retirement of Subrat Gupta (IAS: 1990: WB) on 31 May 2025.
Though Centre had filled up the post in advance by appointing Nidhi Chhibber (IAS: 1994: CG) as OSD in MoFPI to take over from Subrat Gupta but, the ACC recalled its order and appointed her as Director General, Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO), NITI Aayog in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India.
It may be underlined that with the appointment of Joshi as Secretary one more post of Additional Secretary falls vacant at Centre.
