New Delhi (03.08.2024): In an abrupt move the Ministry of Home Affairs under the New Delhi dispensation on Friday took a call fuelling speculations.
Border Security Force (BSF) DG Nitin Agarwal (IPS: 1989: KL) and his deputy Special DG Y B Khurania (IPS: 1990: OD) were suddenly sent back to their respective state cadre with “immediate effect”. Agarwal’s premature repatriation comes two years before the completion of service tenure i.e. July 30, 2026.
A section of senior officers assumes that it could be the ruling dispensation’s response against multiple and successive militant attacks along the Jammu and Kashmir region. BSF guards the borders with Pakistan & Bangladesh. Khurania as Special DG (West) headed the force formation along the Pakistan border.
Informed sources had indicated Indianmandarins weeks back that the Centre may send Khurania back to the state to head the state police force as DGP but the sudden repatriation of the top two in BSF appears to support the speculations that unpleasant incidents along the North-western region would have triggered the move for BSF.
