BJP on defensive ‘to deny ticket to non-performing MLAs’

New Delhi (25.01.2022): Massive exodus of UP MLAs from BJP has put the party leadership on tenterhooks. Prior to polls, BJP has got a survey done and thereafter, around thirty per cent of‘ non-performing MLAs’ were likely to be denied tickets. The MLAs understood this possibility and many of them secured a new political umbrella to contest the assembly polls. The exodus of ten MLAs including three ministers in UP spoiled the party’s game plan. The BJP leadership’s aim to deny ticket to thirty per cent MLAs is now on the backburner. They feel that another round of exodus will put pressure on the party. In fact, BJP is defensive in all the five states where it was trying to deny tickets to several sitting MLAs.
