New Delhi (07.07.2026): Following the retirement of Justice (Retd) Ashok Bhushan, the Centre is moving swiftly to fill the leadership vacuum at the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) through an interim, ad-hoc arrangement.
Justice Bhushan demitted office as the NCLAT Chairperson on July 4, 2026, upon completing his tenure and attaining the upper age limit of 70 years. He had taken over the reins of the apex corporate appellate tribunal in November 2021, shortly after retiring as a judge of the Supreme Court.
Reportedly, Justice Yogesh Khanna is highly likely to be handed the additional charge of acting Chairperson to ensure daily operations remain unaffected.
A former judge of the Delhi High Court, Justice Khanna has been serving as a Member (Judicial) at the tribunal since February 19, 2024, where he currently heads Court-II at the NCLAT Principal Bench in New Delhi.
