New Delhi (22.03.2021): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel transferred on March 21, 2021, the fourth and last installment of Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana in the bank accounts of over 19 lakh farmers of the state, thus fulfilling the promise of providing a total of ₹5,600 crores to farmers.

The fourth installment, amounting to ₹104.27 crores, was digitally transferred at a program held in the CM’s residential office in Raipur.

During the program, a total of ₹ 7.55 crores as the 15th and 16th installments of the Godhan Nyay Yojana was also transferred to the accounts of cattle rearers. So far, a total of ₹80.42 crores have been paid to the cattle rearers under the Yojana.

Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi, in his virtual message, congratulated the CM and his government for keeping the promise of providing ₹5,600 crores to the farmers of Chhattisgarh.

“Today, we have fulfilled the promise of providing ₹5600 crores to the farmers of Chhattisgarh. At a time when the central government has brought three laws which are against the farmers, I am happy that the Chhattisgarh government has taken up the path of helping the farmers, small businessmen, youths, and poor people of the state. This resulted in strengthening the rural economy of the state by putting money into it. As a result, Chhattisgarh is not facing the problems that other states are witnessing. I congratulate the people of the state and the government for this achievement,” Gandhi said.

In his address, the CM said that after coming to power his government had promised that the farmers of the state will get the actual price of their produce. Under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, 19 lakh farmers of Chhattisgarh were provided with an amount of ₹5,627 crores as agricultural input assistance.

“Today I am satisfied that we have fulfilled the promise made to the farmers. We have proved that we do not make false promises but fulfill it,” he said.

Appreciating the Nyay yojana, Congress leader and Chhattisgarh in-charge P L Punia said that the Parliament Standing Committee on Agriculture has also suggested that the schemes like that of Chhatisgarh may be implemented in all states.

Baghel pointed out that Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana has been implemented from May 21, 2020, to provide agricultural input assistance to farmers and to increase production and productivity of major crops of the state.

Under the Yojana, farmers cultivating paddy in Kharif 2019 are being paid in installments directly into their bank account at the rate of ₹10,000 per acre on the basis of the acreage obtained through cooperative society.

The Yojana covers a total of 18.38 lakh farmers including 9.54 lakh marginal farmers, 5.60 lakh small farmers, and 3.21 lakh large farmers. Further, 4,777 certified seed growers have been paid ₹23.62 crores in three installments. In this way, ₹4523.62 crores have been paid to a total of 18.43 lakh farmers in three installments.
