New Delhi (22.03.2021): Unseemly and avoidable points of order have come to play on the issue of educational qualification required for the MD's post at Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL), even as the search-cum-selection process for the post has not even moved an inch because of the deadlock caused by the prolonged delay in appointing the PESB chairman, without whom the search-cum-selection process can't be initiated. Managing Director of Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) S K Barua is scheduled to retire on 31.01.2022. So it may be in the fitness of things to pick up his successor at the earliest. However, straying from the norm, the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and the public-sector headhunter (PESB) have locked horns on the issue of educational qualification required for the NRL MD's post. So the matter has been reportedly forwarded to the final arbiter called the ACC. Indianmandarins has learned that while the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has insisted on the minimum of an engineering graduate qualification, the PESB favors a mere graduate degree. Officials say that this difference in the opinion of MoPNG and PESB calls for urgent resolution because the required educational qualification has to be incorporated in the ad to be issued for the job.
