Building materials company HIL Ltd launched on January 4 its non-asbestos roofing product Charminar Fortune. Charminar is the flagship roofing solutions brand of the Hyderabad-based major. According to a company press release, the new product is manufactured by using an advanced autoclaving technology. The asbestos-free roofing sheet is eco-friendly, long-lasting and durable due to its high impact strength, good dimensional stability and low drying shrinkage abilities, the release said. With this new product, Charminar aims to provide an alternate option to institutional customers, where the requirement of green roofing sheets is high and the alternatives are limited. HIL plans to export to adjoining countries at a later stage, said Dhirup Roy Choudhary, MD & CEO. The R&D division of HIL has spent considerable time, formulating a composition and a unique process which the company is patenting, to develop an eco-friendly durable roofing product.
