New Delhi (11.03.2025): Dr Anju Rathi Rana, an Indian Legal Service officer, has been appointed as the new Union Law Secretary for a period of two years who was serving as Additional Secretary in the department. She is the first woman to be appointed as Law Secretary, who joined the Ministry as a Joint Secretary in 2017. In 2022, she was promoted to the position of additional secretary.Prior to that, she was a public prosecutor in the Delhi government for 18 years. Niten Chandra, an IAS officer, was the last law secretary and the post was lying vacant for the past few months.
