Vijayawada (25.05.2025): Three months ahead of retirement
Harish Kumar Gupta (IPS: 1992: AP) has been appointed as Director General of
Police of Andhra Pradesh. The government granted him a fixed tenure of two
years in accordance with the Supreme Court guidelines. Gupta was scheduled to
retire in August 2025. Having given two-year-term, he will continue as State
DGP up to May 2027. Gupta has been serving as officiating DGP with additional
charge of the post of DG vigilance and enforcement and serves as ex-officio
principal secretary to the government in the general administration department. The UPSC convened an Empanelment Committee Meeting on April
30, 2025, in New Delhi, following a formal proposal from the State Government.
After thorough evaluation, the commission submitted a panel of eligible senior
