New Delhi (22.05.2024): Interestingly the officer who tried hard unsuccessfully to cement BJP-BJD alliance is facing all round attack from the BJP leadership. Attacking Odisha’s most powerful bureaucrat-turned politician, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a public rally, said that key of treasure vault of Jagannath Temple has been handed over to Tamils.
Though Pandian is originally from Tamil Nadu but has made Odisha as his Karmabhoomi and is married to Sujata R Karthikeyan (IAS: 2000: OD); a native of Odisha. Pandian has been Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's right-hand man and is considered to be eyes and ears and the executing arm for Patnaik.
After the PM, Amit Shah said that Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik has handed over reins of the state to the Tamil officer. Sections of civil servants believe that the person in the eye of the storm is none other than V K Pandian (IAS: 2000: OD) who took VRS in October 2023 right ahead of formally joining the BJD with a Cabinet rank.
Amit Shah’s latest remark is seen just an attempt to whip up Odia sentiment when Naveen Patnaik is losing his grip over people of the state. Some say this is a Noora Kushti (fixed fight) and things will be as usual after the elections.
