Karnataka, Kamal and Kamal Nath: BJP’s opponents under constant pressure

Union minister and SAD leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal tweeted removing Kamal Nath from the post of MP CM for his involvement in 1984 Sikh riots case but it has a bigger political implication both for the BJP and the Congress alike. What is that?

The Congress has been accusing the BJP of its alleged intention of destabilizing Congress governments in MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh after Karnataka government was taken over by the BJP replacing the Congress. Actually it has been NaMo-Shah strategy to keep their opponents on tenterhooks by keeping them under pressure. This seems to be the approach towards these states as well.

However, the BJP is in no position to do anything in Chhattisgarh but yes in MP they might do something if not topple the government, speculation is rife that Jyotiraditya Scindia may replace Kamal Nath in MP as Jyotiraditya Scindia joining the BJP will have its own bearing the party and the BJP would eschew to go for any such move. A crippled non-performing government equally suits the BJP.

Not opening many fronts at the same time, the BJP will go slow in Rajasthan as Sachin Pilot has not forgotten that he was denied his due as CM’s post was given to Ashok Gehlot but Sachin will have to wait for some more time. This is clear that the NDA leadership does not do anything in such a way that anyone can read, understand or fathom their next move.

The Divider-in-chief responds: Goes on tapping into Oppositions' vote banks

One may call it BJP's response to the proponents of so-called social engineering. Even after winning the national election convincingly, the BJP is not content with its vote share. Like a marketing company that tries a lot of tricks to constantly increase the market share for its salable products, the national party, in its attempt at containing or neutralizing the influence of caste satraps, is on a big experiment to break the current caste arithmetic.

And for this experiment, it has chosen UP which, like its eastern neighbor Bihar, is riven with the politics of caste satraps. Remember the way Upendra Kumar Kushwaha and Om Prakash Rajbhar tried to bully and blackmail the BJP on the eve of the 2019 national elections. Having learned a lesson from the behavior of the two ambitious leaders, the BJP has charted out a course of action to avoid the company of such leaders by winning their claimed caste bases.

Accordingly, acting on its plan, on Friday last week, the UP government added to the SC category 17 OBC castes including Rajbhar, Mallah, Prajapati, and Kumhar. The state government has already initiated the process to give SC caste certificates to the 17 OBC caste members.

This politics of division, which has been happily resorted to by wannabe politicians aspiring to become nothing less than state CM or national PM ever since Dr. Rammanohar Lohia worked out his famous caste arithmetic to destroy the Congress Party's hegemony in the mid-sixties, has lent itself to BJP's deep thinkers to further tap into the vote shares of the remaining opposition.

Although every political leader has realized how BJP's knife is slicing through votes shares, they aren't in a position to object very much because the BJP is citing the same ideology for its purpose by which OBC caste leaders have played their politics so far.

However, BSP supremo Mayawati, who is reduced to a mere shade of her earlier national stature, has begun whining. Tomorrow, it will be the turn of Jignesh Mewani, Chandrashekhar Azad, Prakash Ambedkar, and other self-appointed Dalit leaders turn to voice against the move and agitate and rally their rag, tag, and bobtail army.

Mayawati has reportedly called UP's decision to include 17 Other Backward Classes (OBC) into Scheduled Caste (SC) as “unconstitutional”. She believes that the government has deceived these castes as ‘now they are not going to get benefit from either of the two categories’. Her argument is that following the inclusion, these 17 castes are neither OBCs nor SCs as Article 341 of the Constitution bars any government from adding or removing any caste from SC category.

Whether or not her argument may hold, she is immensely nervous as reflected in her statement that "the SC quota should be increased in the same ratio" as the percentage of the included community's strength.

The BSP leader has claimed that during her tenure, she sent a letter to the then Congress government at the Centre to add these castes in the SC list in a constitutional way and also to increase the SC quota. What she didn't say is important: The Congress Party didn't oblige her because they did not wish to add to her popularity and strength.

On the other hand, the BJP has done it because it wants to add to its pro-poor image. And luckily for the party, the cost will be borne by the BSP whose SC vote bank is already shrunk because of the en masse migration of Balmikis and other SC and ST categories to the Hindutva camp.

With Assembly elections in mind, BJP booth workers to get bouquet and brickbats

By IndianMandarins 12 Jun 2019

Two-day long meeting of BJP will take place on June 13 and June 14 in which besides organizational elections, name of the new caretaker president and appointment of some state presidents BJP’s performance on booth will also be discussed. Some of the party workers who have done commendable work will be facilitated as well.

Actually BJP has even decided to evaluate performance of such booths where it polled 40 per cent or fewer votes. It is also seeking suggestions that how this number could be augmented to above 50 per cent on these booths. Booth management has been key to the planning and success of the BJP ever since Amit Shah took over as party president, who is now Union Home minister.

But it is not that only praise is in the offing in the meet as last night general secretaries of the party too had a long discussion with the party president. Actually, the BJP is ready with bouquet and brickbats for its booth workers. Sources in the BJP said that booth managers have started getting instructions by the party in this regard. Apparently the BJP wants to asses them before several important Assembly elections that are likely to be held in one or two years’ time or may go on even further.

Maharashtra, Haryana, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh are some important states where the party want to remain focused and want to chalk out its strategy well in advance. Sources said that the target of the party for 2019 was to get least 50 per cent votes polled in every booth where the BJP was in contest so if they are able to know the reason that why it failed on certain booth they will look for its solution. So they will try to increase this figure in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

Sources further said that there are certain booths in every state where party has performed very well with voting percentage as high as 80 to 90 per cent. So such booth in-charge and their leaders will be facilitated however the benchmark is fifty plus and forty minus. The party has plans to facilitate such booth workers by the people’s representative (MPs and MLAs) of the party where the party managed to get 50 per cent or more votes.

They have already started this exercise and have instructed the concerned workers to complete as soon as they can. The party might change the booth committee where party polled 40 per cent of less than 40 per cent votes. There are around 10.35 lakh booths across the country.

Nadda likely to become BJP president and Mahesh Sharma UP BJP chief

By IndianMandarins 31 May 2019

Some of the missing names like Jagat Prakash Nadda from the Union cabinet, Jaipur (rural) MP Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Gautam Buddha Nagar MP Mahesh Chandra Sharma in council of minister have astounded many but there is nothing to get disheartened for his sympathizers as these leaders are likely to get some important organizational responsibilities.

With BJP president Amit Shah making a cut into the Modi government, J P Nadda, who was Union health minister in the Modi 1.0 government, is likely to be made national party president replacing Amit Shah. Nadda has a long experience of organizational work from ABVP to Yuva Morcha to BJP general secretary. So he will be taking care of the organizational work. He not only gets along with the PM and party president but also have blessings of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leadership.

The long due organizational overhauled of the BJP will be done with the new president taking over. Similarly former Union culture minister Mahesh Sharma too will be given the organizational responsibility albeit in Uttar Pradesh. Actually sources informed that the BJP wants to replace a Brahmin president with another Brahmin to maintain cast equilibrium in the state. There is another aspect of Mahesh Sharma being considered for the responsibility is that he belongs to western Uttar Pradesh – the region where the performance of the party in the just concluded Lok Sabha elections was not as good as other parts of the state. So the party wants to correct before it goes into the next Assembly elections.

So the party wants state president from western Uttar Pradesh and a Brahmin to give message to Brahmins and people of western UP alike. As per the sources, chief minister Yogi Adityanath will take care of eastern Uttar Pradesh who is a Rajput strongman with Hindutva image, deputy chief minister Keshav Prashad Maurya will take care of central Uttar Pradesh an OBC strongman.

Some other leader like Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore is also likely to be inducted into the organizational structure either in Rajasthan or in the central team.
