If some
reliable sources are to be believed the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet is
expected to clear the appointment of Anil Kumar Chaudhary (Director- Finance,
SAIL) soon to the post of Chairman & Managing Director, Steel Authority of
India Limited (SAIL). The public-sector headhunter (PESB) had, on 01
March, recommended Chaudhary’s name for the top job and ACC ratification was
expected in the last week of June 2018 which could not take place.
It may be underlined that Ministry of Steel
had, on 25 June 2018, issued a notication assigning the additional charge of SAIL
top post to Anil Kumar Chaudhary (Director- Finance, SAIL) for a period of
three months but within four days there was a U-turn on its decision. Later the
Ministry of Steel on June 30, given the additional charge of the post Chairman
& MD to Saraswati Prasad (IAS:1985:AM), AS&FA, Steel, on retirement of
incumbent P K Singh.
