Rahul
Gandhi is on a roll. He is being appreciated & is being trolled but he
refuses to leave the headlines. Ever since the hug and the wink, his political
fortunes have acquired a swing with many debates on the evening TV and the
Newspaper edits centered around him. But as he stirs up the buzz and himself
jokes that BJP MPs nowadays run away from him for the fear of them being
hugged, he is silently firming up his strategy for the 2019 polls.  Interestingly
his primary strategy this time is largely designed to help the Allies best
utilise their strength to electorally match the BJP might in their respective
states. Â People
close to the Congress President are already working the phones and allies have
messages for a coalition directly delivered from the office of the Congress
President. But this all may not be new. What is new this time is that Rahul
Gandhi will be devoting his party's energies in those states where Non-BJP
players are bigger than the Congress. Accordingly, four major states have been
selected even as the first phase of Rahul Gandhi's plans takes shape. Â The
grand plan is that Rahul Gandhi has asked Congress colleagues to focus on
defeating BJP and its Allies in just four states and leave the rest to him.
These states are Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Bihar (TUMB). The
idea is that with the regional players strongly ensconced in these states
Congress perhaps won’t have much of a chance even in 2019. But instead of
playing a spoil sport Congress has decided to forget the past and help the
regional powers sew-up such an alliance in these states which will enable them
to win against the BJP. Â Party
insiders say Congress is sure about the victory of its allies in Tamil Nadu, UP
and Bihar while in Maharashtra it has to take charge itself. Together these
states constitute 200 odd seats most of which presently are with the BJP.  Rahul's
Strategy team feels its the 'two horse race' policy which has to be employed to
checkmate BJP in 2019 elections. All against BJP best suits the Congress and
thus Congressmen have been asked to selflessly work towards the goal in these 4
crucial states where Cong over the years has lost much of its lustre.  Congress
strategists feel a silent unease is building against the Govt in its fifth year
and that needs to be utilised without letting the anti-BJP votes get divided.
But the lurking fear remains that this unease may get mitigated if the politics
of religion & nationalism acquires centre-space. Therefore, the second
important 'think' apart from the TUMB theory is henceforth Congressmen will be
seen speaking only on the 'Naujwaan & Kisan' theme to let the silent
aggression against the Govt. especially in the lower middle class, youth and
the farmers take shape.
