'Indianmandarins' has reliably learnt that 2013 batch IAS officers will soon be posted in Govt of India as Section officer. 180 posts of CSS (Central Secretariat Service) are being allocated for IAS probationers under the new provision.
In yet another major departure from the established provisions DOPT is all set implement Prime Minister's plan to post IAS probationers in Govt of India in the rank of Section Officer (SO). IAS probationers will have three months tenure as SO with the designation of Assistant Secretary. It will be considered as part of their training curriculum.
Till present IAS probationers were posted directly in respective states (allocated cadres) as SDM as first posting. Interestingly 2013 batch will be the first batch to take up the newly introduced provision.
Reportedly, PM's initiative is being seen as his pioneering approach towards administrative training and administration. The prime objective behind the initiative is to provide them opportunity to understand the functioning of the Govt of India where they will have the know-how of centrally sponsored schemes, release of funds and intricacies of centre-state relations.
