Now or Never: Swamy cautions Uddhav to break alliance

With Maharashtra situation getting grim by the day, Rajya Sabha MP and senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy tweeted recently: ‘time is now or never: Uddhav break the alliance now otherwise NCP and Congress will destroy you by staged events.” The Shiv Sena-led government in Maharashtra has failed to handle the Coronavirus situation resulting into huge spike into the number of COVID-19 cases. Therefore, the President’s Rule is the only way out in Maharashtra to prevent its further spread. Although, it is a clear embarrassment to the present government because of the collapse of the economic capital of India as the country is virtually at the doors of an economic emergency.

Swamy-sutra: Loyal bureaucrats and not so loyal bureaucrats?

There are many heartburns over the handling of bureaucracy by NDA II. BJP MP Subramanian Swamy has once again targeted its own government over the bureaucracy controlling the government especially such officers having leaning for the Congress managing to get such officers penalized who were supporting the NDA. Swamy tweeted: “I have warned many times that Congi rogues still control our bureaucracy and MSMs. Otherwise, would the officer who diligently persecuted PC be sent show-cause notice and the behest of an officer who has since been twice promoted.”

Swamy again takes potshots at FM?

By IndianMandarins 18 Mar 2020

Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy seems to have declared an open war with Union Finance Minister N Sitharaman. In one of his recent  tweets, he criticised her for being too harsh with SBI Chairman. Also, he finds fault with too high rates of lending while in the US and other countries lending rates and rules have been liberalized to ease pressure on the economy.
It has been observed that Swamy has always been making a scathing criticism of several decisions taken by his own party. In particular, he finds fault with the present FM and earlier the late FM Arun Jaitley. Perhaps Swamy is venting out his frustration for not being given the post of FM by PM Narendra Modi. Anyway, it is fun for the twitterati to read witty attacks of inimitable Swamy.

Swamy questions FM on excise duty hike on petrol

By IndianMandarins 16 Mar 2020

In his latest tweet, Subramanian Swamy has questioned the prudence of Union Finance Minister on raising excise duty on petrol and diesel, calling this an astonishing move. Though known for speaking his mind irrespective of party line, this tweet comes as a clear embarrassment to the government, already facing questions on GDP and overall economy.

Power corridors perplexed over Swami’s tweet: Who dominates PMO?

By IndianMandarins 02 Mar 2020

Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy has always something unique and witty to offer via his inimitable tweets. As usual, his tweet today reads “The PMO today is dominated by officials who have an anti-Hindutva mind-set. Some in PMO are in touch with Sharad Pawar and his daughter. The targeting of officials who are patriotic and want to prosecute the corrupt has begun.”

People in power corridors are perplexed about the officials Swami is referring to in this tweet that has gone viral. Highly-placed sources confide that raising doubts over officials in PMO is something tactful and ingenious as in the NaMo regime no one other than the PM Modi himself calls the shots. The irrepressible veteran politician is probably hinting at diluting of Hindutva ideology and growing proximity of Modi with old warhorse Sharad Pawar.

Swamy's letter to Arun Jaitley sparks controversy

By IndianMandarins 27 Sep 2018

As per the media reports Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy has written a letter to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley seeking prosecution of Revenue Secretary Hansmukh Adhia.

In his letter, Swamy has elaborated that role of Adhia is subject to public scrutiny. Swamy has urged Jaitley to prosecute Adhia under Section 197 of CrPC and Section 19 Prevention of Corruption Act.

"The Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam, as it is popularly known today, is about the grant of Letters of Undertaking (LoUs) by the bank to the companies of Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi for a fraud involving Rs 11,000 crore. Presently, both of them are absconding. The said individuals and their companies are being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Enforcement Directorate (ED), Income Tax (IT) and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). Three of the above mentioned four agencies work under the aegis of the Finance Ministry, and directly report to Adhia," Swamy wrote in his letter to Jaitley.
