Haryana: Major IAS reshuffle includes Umashankar as new PS to CM

The Haryana Government on Monday (26.10.20) transferred and shuffled several of IAS Officers to the post of Principal Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary. V Umashankar was made Principal Secretary to Chief Minister vice Rajesh Khullar. The list goes  as follows:

Haryana: Search Committee for Chief Commissioner, Right to Service Commission

The Governor of Haryana, on Tuesday, September 22, issued an order to constitute a committee to search suitable candidates for appointment as Chief Commissioner in the Haryana Right to Service Commission under Haryana Right to Service Act, 2014. The Search Committee would make a recommendation to the Statutory Committee for the appointment of the new Chief Commissioner pertaining to the Haryana Right to Service Commission.

The Search Committee would comprise Vijai Vardhan (IAS:1985:HY), Additional Chief Secretary to Government of Haryana, as the Chairman. T.V.S.N. Prasad (IAS:1988:HY), Additional Chief Secretary to Government of Haryana, and Dr. B.K. Kuthiala, Chairperson, Haryana State Higher Education Council, will be the other constituting members.

The Committee has the prerogative to forward names based on their own merits. The Government will finalize a panel of names, after considering the names submitted by the Search Committee for consideration of the Statutory Committee.

Haryana cadre IAS officer resigns citing personal safety

A 35-year-old Rani Nagar (IAS: 2014: Haryana), currently posted as Director, Archives Department, in Haryana government has resigned from the services. She has sent her resignation to state chief secretary, requesting him to forward it to the competent authority in the Union government.

The Haryana cadre officer resigned citing ‘personal safety on government duty’ as the reason for it. Nagar said that she is also sending copies of the resignation letter to the president, prime minister, Haryana governor and the chief minister through e-mail.


The reason for submitting this resignation is personal safety on government duty. I do hereby most humbly submit to you my resignation from the post of Indian Administrative Service with immediate effect, that is effective from May 4, 2020, forenoon,” she writes.

Haryana empowers itself to appoint DGP

The Haryana Vidhan Sabha, during its one-day winter session last week, provided absolute powers to the state government to select the DGP following the passage of the Haryana Police (Amendment) Bill, 2018, which amended certain provisions of the Haryana Police Act, 2007.


Under the amended Act, a State Security Commission, headed by the Chief Minister and, comprising, among others, Leader of Opposition, Advocate General, a retired HC Judge, Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and incumbent DGP besides two non-political persons, will have the powers to appoint the DGP.


The DGP will be chosen from a panel of “at least three eligible DGP-rank officers” selected by a committee headed by the Chief Secretary, and comprising the Home Secretary and the outgoing DGP.

Governor Reshuffle: Seven states get new governors

President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday effected a major reshuffle of gubernatorial assignments in seven states. Ruling out the speculations over Rajeev Mehrishi (CAG) he appointed Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik as the Governor of J&K replacing N N Vohra who held the post for more than ten years.

Apart from J&K the changes were also made to the states of Haryana, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Meghalaya, Tripura, Sikkim and.

Lal Ji Tandon was appointed Governor of Bihar whereas Satyadev Narayan Arya was appointed Governor of Haryana, Baby Rani Maurya as the Governor of Uttarakhand, Ganga Prasad (Governor of Meghalaya) was transferred and appointed as Governor of Sikkim, Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy was transferred and appointed as Governor of Meghalaya and Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki was appointed Tripura Governor.
