Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that B V R Subrahmanyam (IAS:1987:CG) may return to the PMO. Currently, he is serving in Chhattisgarh as Home Secretary. His cooling-off period is now over. According to the central government ranking, he holds an Additional Secretary rank. Earlier in his career, he was a PS to the then PM, Dr. Manmohan Singh, and spent almost ten years in the PMO and three years in World Bank in Washington DC. Later, he joined the PMO again as a JS and continued until March 2015 when Dr. T V Swaminathan (IAS:1987:TN) replaced him in the PMO. He is considered one of the finest officers of IAS. Affectionately called 'Subbu' by his colleagues, he has been making frequent visits and meets the PM directly to discuss his pet 'smartphone for all' project. He also holds an MBA degree from London Business School. Since "Subbu" was considered very close to Pulok Chatterji and Dr. Manmohan SIngh, his appointment in the PMO may help establish a bridge between the two eras.
