DOPT Secretary Sanjay Kothari (IAS:1978:HY) is scheduled to superannuate on June 30. This is generating a lot of speculations about his successor. It's rumored that Union Health Secretary Bhanu Pratap Sharma (IAS:1981:BH) may be named as new DOPT Secretary, though many other names too are in the reckoning. Sharma is senior among many prospective names and has a wide experience of the functioning of DOPT as its former Establishment Officer. Well-placed sources believe that one could not be sure of what would happen finally as PM Modi always throws up an element of surprise when it comes to top postings.
