Railways) recently whispered to a very senior railway official saying ‘you might
be the last CRB from Railway’; in a meeting the power corridors started abuzz
that the next Chairman of Railway Board will be either from IAS or from private
sector. Those in the know of the affairs say that the rumour appears
far from the reality but one can not rule out the possibility. It is also,
rumoured that a senior IAS officer’s name belonging to 1980 batch too recently
did rounds for the top job. It may be mentioned that the outgoing Chairman of Railway
Board V K Yadav is retiring this month end. Further, vigilance enquiries
initiated recently has also scuttled the prospects of some eligible candidates
for CRB post. Overall, the uncertainty over the next CRB has been looming
large. Question still remains; who will be next Chairman of Railway Board?
