March 05 will be the longest day of expectation for those aspiring to become IRDAI chairman. On that day, Financial Sector Regulatory Appointments Search Committee (FSRASC), headed by Cabinet Secretary P K Sinha, will interview the shortlisted candidates to select a new IRDAI Chairman. The post fell vacant on 20 February after T S Vijayan's retirement.
Many serving and former senior officials have been eying the job. Among them is LIC Chairman VK Sharma, New India Assurance Chairman G Srinivasan, IRDAI member (life) Nilesh Sathe, and former Karnataka Chief Secretary Subhash Chandra Kuntia (Retd IAS:1981: KN).
Reportedly, former Corporate Affairs Secretary Tapan Ray (Retd IAS:1982:GJ), and Kapil Dev Tripathy (IAS:1980:AM), the senior most serving Secretary in Govt of India and a potential contender for the post of Cabinet Secretary, are also said to be in the race.
