As Malay Kumar Sinha (IPS:1981:UP) is expected to superannuate on September 30, speculations have intensified about his successor as Secretary Security, Cabinet Secretariat. Power corridors are abuzz that a panel of four names has been moved to the PMO which is expected to decide the matter next week.
Reportedly, Mukesh Kumar Singla (IPS:1982:KL) and Ms. Meera C Borwankar (IPS:1981:MH) are on the aforesaid panel. In addition, two senior IPS officers are also in the race.
Malay Kumar Sinha was appointed to the coveted post on 11 February 2016. All operational proposals of SPG are approved and processed by Secretary (Security). The Secretary (Security) is the administrative head of Special Protection Group (SPG) and is accountable for closely monitoring the security arrangements for the PM, former PMs and members of their immediate families in India and abroad. He is also the nodal authority in respect of the policy relating to procurement of jammers by the state governments and central police forces.
