Following the appointment of Rajeev Topno (IAS:1996:GJ) as Senior Adviser to the ED, World Bank the post of Private Secretary to Prime Minister has virtually fallen vacant. Reportedly, Topno’s successor has been identified and the appointment to the post may be announced soon. If some well-placed sources are to be believed Rajender Kumar (IAS:2004:GJ) may be picked for the job yet it could be mere speculation only. ‘Unpredictability and element of surprise’ is the hall-mark of NaMo administration. Further, some well-placed sources say that Private Secretary to PM is a JS level posts whereas Rajender Kumar is yet to be empanelled as Joint Secretary in Govt of India and his tenure under Central deputation is approaching completion as well.
