Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that UP's Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan (IAS:1978:UP) may not get the centre's concurrence for a second extension beyond June 30. In case this turns out to be true, the tie would be between 1982 and 1984 batch IAS officers.
It is learnt that state Chief Minister Akhilesh Singh Yadav is inclined towards Sanjay Agarwal, a 1984 batch IAS officer who is quite junior to other claimants. At the same time, it would be difficult for the Govt to ignore claimants belonging to 1982 batch. Reportedly, Deepak Singhal (1982) has bleak prospect to emerge as the choice of present dispensation whereas Pravir Kumar (1982) would have better chances for a set of reasons.
The senior-most among the claimants, Pravir Kumar, had sought repatriation from the Centre on 28 October 2015. The central government is said to have made its intent clear to sideline Pravir Kumar after it posted him as Secretary, Interstate Council Secretariat, on August 28, 2015.
