The appointments of Senior Adviser to ED, World Bank (JS level) and Adviser to ED, International Monitory Fund (Director level post) have been cleared. Both Washington DC posts are hugely coveted by civil servants.
Former PS to Sharad Pawar and formerly Director in PMO Santosh D Vaidya (IAS:1998:UT) is appointed as a Senior Adviser to the ED, World Bank (Washington DC) for a period of 03 years. Applications for the post were invited in April 2016, following the completion of tenure of L K Atheek (IAS:1993:KN). CSB made several efforts to fill the post but could not make up its mind, more because of hectic lobbying. Finally, CSB met in mid-October 2016 and made a proposal which was cleared by ACC on 21 March 2017.
It may be noted that there are two posts of Senior Adviser to ED World Bank.
Further, Ms. Petal Dhillon (IRTS:2002) was yesterday appointed Adviser to ED, IMF (Washington DC) for a period of three years. She replaces Dr. Manoj Govil (IAS:1991:MP). She has been with Dept of Economic Affairs as Director. It is worth underlining that she is daughter & daughter-in-law of former bureaucrats; Retd Additional Chief Secretary (UP) and Rajan Bhagat (Former Delhi Police Commissioner).
