New Delhi (19.06.2025): Justice Yashwant Varma refused to resign after the Supreme Court constituted committee submitted its report on the issue of currency stash found in the outhouse of his official residence. It is being talked about that since he refused to resign, the report was leaked which indicted him by recommending impeachment. The ruling dispensation is contemplating to bring impeachment motion against him to which opposition political parties have put up a condition before the government. The Centre may bring impeachment against Justice Verma during Monsoon Session. The government needs opposition’s help in the Rajya Sabha for his removal. They want Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav also to be impeached in alleged ‘hate speech’ case but the government doesn’t seem to be ready. The impeachment motion of Justice Yadav is already pending with Vice President of India and Chairman Rajya Sabha Jagdeep Dhankhar. Meanwhile, senior lawyer and Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal called Justice Verma as one of the finest judges on which he was ridiculed too.
