IAS:1986:J&K) takes charge as Member of Union Public Service Commission
today. Vyas will have a term of nearly three years ending 14
November 2018. He is the first IAS officer from the J&K cadre to
become the member of the constitutional body. UPSC Chairman Arvind Saxena administered the oath. After serving the state for 32
years Vyas, on Wednesday, resigned as Adviser to the Governor Satyapal Mallik.
The Governor accepted his resignation with immediate effect, paving way for his
appointment as a UPSC member.
Vyas served the state as its 30th
Chief Secretary and held the distinction of serving as Principal Secretary to
three former Chief Ministers of J&K namely; Omar Abdullah, late Mufti
Muhammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti.
