Is Central Govt indulging Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje?
Union minister of state for civil aviation Jayant Sinha said in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday: "The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has received a request from the state government of Rajasthan for the construction of VVIP Terminal at Jaipur Airport. AAI has already offered 2.5 acres of land to the government of Rajasthan for this purpose."
The cost of the VVIP terminal, which is yet to be determined, will be borne by the state.
Sources said the VVIP terminal is not common in state capitals for use by CMs and governors. VVIPs are normally driven up to the step ladder of the plane for security or health reasons not only in their states but also in other states where they might have gone on an official duty.
It is stated that Jaipur is only on the precedent set by some states which have dedicated aprons and hangars for their planes and helicopters at their airports.
