New Delhi (09.05.2026): The Government of India has announced Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan (PVSM, AVSM, VSM) as the next Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS). He will take over from Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi on May 31, 2026.Currently serving as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command, Vice Admiral Swaminathan’s appointment follows a series of high-level military leadership transitions announced by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.Commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1987, Vice Admiral Swaminathan is a specialist in Communication and Electronic Warfare.
