After marking their indelible presence in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya,
Gonda, and other districts during their service period, a number of former
civil servants including police officers have decided to test their political
fortune by contesting the 2019 LS Polls. Former Union Secretary Vijay Shankar Pandey (Retd IAS:1979: UP) who once
served in Ayodhya as DM will contest from this LS seat as his own Lok
Gathbandhan Party (LGP) candidate. He served as Faizabad DM immediately after
the disputed structure’s demolition during the Ram Mandir agitation in 1992. Former IPS officer Kush Saurabh will contest from Bansgaon seat as a
Congress candidate. He has served in many districts of the Purvanchal region
during his service period. Ram Bahadur, formerly Gonda DM, is also trying his luck as the Nagrikta
Ekta Party candidate from Gonda after the seat went to the SP as part of the
BSP-SP alliance. He contested the 2014 polls as the BSP candidate from
Mohanlalganj seat but lost.
