Lucknow (18.07.2026): Far exceeding expectations, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has received over 1,000 applications from across the country for the post of its first-ever Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Interestingly, the vast majority of applicants are retired IAS, IPS, and other senior government officials.
Speculation in power corridors intensified after Nripendra Mishra, Chairman of the Temple Construction Committee and former Principal Secretary to the PM, addressed the matter, hinting that the government is inclined to appoint an experienced bureaucrat to the role.
The overwhelming response poses a significant challenge for the search committee, which would now undertake a detailed scrutiny of all applications. To streamline the process, the committee will appoint a dedicated Secretary to verify applicant eligibility.
A crucial meeting of the search committee is scheduled for July 19, 2026 to finalize the screening criteria and interview schedule. Following the initial shortlisting, eligible candidates will be called for personal interviews, with online interviews remaining an option if required. The committee is expected to submit its progress report at the Trust’s main meeting on July 22.
The selected CEO will be appointed on a three-year contract, renewable based on performance. The salary and benefits package will be finalized through mutual discussion.
