New Delhi (23.03.2021): The Uttar Pradesh Home Department in a notification issued Tuesday evening stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) gave an immediate VRS to the 1992 batch IPS officer Amitabh Thakur. It further said that Thakur was found "not suitable" to continue his services as a public servant. It may be recalled that Thakur had in 2016 alleged that the UP government officials were treating him as a "sworn enemy" and hence his cadre should be changed from UP to any other state. Thakur was suspended on July 13, 2015, days after he had accused then SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav of threatening him. Though CAT’s Lucknow bench had stayed his suspension and had ordered his reinstatement with full salary with effect from October 11, 2015. Later, in early 2016, he was reinstated by the UP government.
